Using leading-edge technology, you’ll help connect British Columbians to healthy and safe workplaces – providing support for injury prevention programs, rehabilitation services, workplace insurance, and strong health and safety cultures.

Are you a junior software developer with strong technical skills in front or back-end development? Do you have a passion for design and collaboration, and a drive to create work that matters?

As a member of our application delivery and sustainment team in our head office in Richmond, B.C., you’ll enhance, support and build customer-focused, front and back-end applications that are designed to assist us in promoting workplace health and safety and providing support and rehabilitation to those who are injured at work. You’ll support the IT team’s delivery and continuous improvement by assisting other roles in their work, and promoting a great team dynamic and respectful and collaborative culture.

WorkSafeBC has adopted a hybrid model offering opportunities to work remotely within BC and onsite based on the operational needs of the position.

What you'll do

As a junior software developer you will:

  • Enhance and develop code in an Agile environment
  • Support business operations and maintenance of applications by responding to production support and tickets
  • Collaborate with and support the Agile team (solution architect) with detailed solution design to deliver desired business outcomes and cost-effective sustainment
  • Contribute to the architecture of the solution to ensure it satisfies the requirements, design, implementation, and deployment
  • Identify and build developer tests that cover required behavior of the functional components, as well as performance and environment testing
  • Apply Agile methodology and working knowledge of DevOps tools, technologies, and processes
  • Apply working knowledge of Cloud technology concepts essential to the development of Cloud applications

Your experience and educational background

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math)
  • A minimum of recent co-op work term experience developing software or applications
  • Full-stack development experience using programming, scripting languages and frameworks such as .Net, C#, JavaScript, SQL is a must
  • Full-stack development experience using programming, scripting languages and frameworks such JQuery, Angular, HTML5, CSS3, XUnit, NUnit is considered an asset
  • Work experience with Agile methodologies, Cloud, and DevOps environments is considered an asset
